Schneider Electric PLC programming in Kenya: Modicon M221, M241, M251, M340, M580 and Zelio

Schneider Electric PLC programming by on-site engineers in Kenya and across Africa: Modicon M221, M241, M251, M340, M580 and Zelio. EcoStruxure Machine Expert Basic (M221), fault finding, upgrades and full documentation.

Schneider Electric Modicon PLCs are widely used in water, buildings and machines across Africa. We program and troubleshoot Modicon controllers in the right EcoStruxure tool for each family, and upgrade older Twido and Zelio systems.

Schneider Electric PLCs we work on

  • Modicon M221: compact logic controllers
  • Modicon M241, M251 and M262: machine controllers with Ethernet and CANopen
  • Modicon M340 and M580: process and infrastructure PLCs
  • Zelio Logic and Twido: smart relays and legacy controllers

Software: EcoStruxure Machine Expert Basic (M221), EcoStruxure Machine Expert (M241/M251/M262), EcoStruxure Control Expert (M340/M580), Zelio Soft 2. Networks: Modbus RTU and TCP, EtherNet/IP, CANopen.

Schneider Electric PLC services

  • New programs for pumping stations, water treatment and packaging machines
  • Twido to M221 and Premium/Quantum to M580 upgrades
  • Modbus integration with drives, meters and SCADA
  • Fault finding on stopped controllers and lost communications

Signs your PLC system needs attention

  • The machine stops with faults nobody can explain, or the only person who understood the program has left
  • There is no current backup of the program, or the backup does not match what is running
  • Spare CPUs and I/O cards are discontinued, expensive or months away
  • Operators work around the sequence by hand because the logic no longer matches the process
  • You want production data, remote access or new functions that the old program cannot provide

How we approach a PLC job

  1. Upload and back up the running program and hardware configuration before any change.
  2. Document the I/O and the sequence with your operators, so everyone agrees what the machine must do.
  3. Write or modify the logic offline, structured and commented, and test it with simulation where possible.
  4. Commission on site: test every input, output, interlock and alarm, then run under real production load.
  5. Hand over the final program, I/O list and drawings, and train your technicians on fault finding.

Tips from our engineers

Use the right EcoStruxure tool

M221 uses Machine Expert Basic, the M241/M251/M262 use Machine Expert and the M340/M580 use Control Expert (formerly Unity Pro). Starting in the right tool avoids conversion problems.

Plan Twido replacements

Twido controllers are discontinued. Machine Expert Basic can convert most Twido programs to the M221, but wiring and modules must be checked.

Frequently asked questions

Do you program Modicon PLCs?

Yes. We program Modicon M221, M241, M251, M262, M340 and M580 controllers and Zelio Logic relays.

Can you replace a Twido PLC?

Yes, usually with a Modicon M221, converting and testing the program first.
