Allen-Bradley PLC, PanelView and PowerFlex programming in Kenya

ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Micro800 and MicroLogix programming, PanelView HMI screens and PowerFlex drive setup with Studio 5000, RSLogix and Connected Components Workbench.

Allen-Bradley controllers from Rockwell Automation are common on imported production lines, bottling and packaging machines and large plants. We program, troubleshoot and modernise Allen-Bradley systems, from Micro800 controllers on single machines to CompactLogix and ControlLogix systems with EtherNet/IP drives and PanelView screens.

What we do on Allen-Bradley systems

  • Ladder logic and structured text programs for new machines and line upgrades
  • Fault finding: major faults, I/O module faults, EtherNet/IP communication problems
  • Migrating SLC 500 and MicroLogix systems to CompactLogix or Micro800
  • PowerFlex drive setup: motor data, speed references over EtherNet/IP, braking and PID
  • PanelView screen updates, alarm handling and recipe management

How we work on your Allen-Bradley system

  1. Back up first. Before we touch anything, we upload and save the existing program, HMI project and drive parameters, so the machine can always be returned to how it was.
  2. Understand the process. We walk the machine with your operators and maintenance team, and agree in writing what the change or new program must do.
  3. Program and test offline. Logic, screens and drive settings are prepared and checked before site work, to keep downtime short.
  4. Commission on site. We test every input, output, interlock and alarm with your team, then run the machine under real load.
  5. Hand over properly. You receive the final, commented program, HMI project, drive parameter files, I/O list and drawings, plus training for your technicians.

Practical tips from our engineers

Check the firmware and software versions first

Studio 5000 projects open only with a matching major firmware version. Recording controller firmware and keeping the right software version available saves hours on every service visit.

Replace discontinued controllers in a planned way

SLC 500 and most MicroLogix controllers are discontinued. We convert the logic to a current controller and test it before the shutdown, so the line is down for hours rather than days.

Use drive profiles, not hard-wired speed signals

Controlling PowerFlex drives over EtherNet/IP gives speed, current and fault data in the PLC and HMI, which makes troubleshooting much faster.
